Why Thermotex™ is Different than Conventional Heating Pads or Hot Towels.
Equine studies have shown therapy applications with radiant energy penetration of several inches. Heating pads, which provide topical conductive heat, only a fraction of an inch. This depth of penetration substantiated in a study done by Dr. Ronald J. Riegel.
Thermotex™ infrared systems operate at temperatures of between 40C - 45C, heating pads on the other hand are often in excess of 55C. Heating pads try to force heat engergy into the body but in fact, the lower the device temperature, the more deep the energy penetrates into the body. A Thermotex system has a high and low setting. Placed on high, the unit comes up to operational speed quickly. When it gets warm though, you change the setting back to low. You do not want the device to be hot. The lower the temperature, the more deeply the radiant energy goes into your body. As a result, our products will not burn or dehydrate the skin, as is often the case with the hot towel method. Furthermore, the hot towel or heating pads do not retain an even temperature. They typically cool below the therapeutic range within 5 to 10 minutes and never penetrate as deep as infrared heat will.
